Our new Forums systems allow for us to be really flexible with the permissions settings on the Forums (ie. allowing what people or groups of people can and can't do).

One of the things that we are planning on doing is inviting a few trusted members of the Forums to maybe take on some simple moderator permissions - ie. allowing them to be able to delete obvious spam and clear-cut offensive posts in the Forums and Chat Box etc if and when they appear. Myself and my colleagues are not online 24 hours a day and are not able to check every single post every single day, and so a bit of help would be most welcome.

A few people in the past have expressed an interest in this and now we invite those interested to contact us if you are still interested.

The plans are not yet fixed, but if you are simply interested in helping us out in this way and at the same time prepared to become a hate figure*, then please do let us me know by PM. We are going to be very selective on this and so just let me say upfront that we won't be handing out these privileges to anyone, perhaps just a few people who we know to be inpartical, objective and supportive.

Thanks!

(* actually your online account will not change, so this will not be public knowledge ^ so you might be safe from all that nonsense). wink

lol

Yes, of course.
Everyone is trusted until they do something that gives us reason not to.

Same as the way I used to run my school computer network. I trust you until you prove that I cannot.

Worked a treat (admittedly, these were senior high school students - Year 11 & 12 - heading towards university) and I never had to plug any leaks (that I know of, anyway!)

Hi everyone

I just wanted to update this thread to let you know that we now have 6 members of the Forums (in addition to the SJ Moderators) who can now help us out with some basic moderation permissions - meaning that they are able to delete obvious spam and things posted on the Forums that are blatantly against our Forums guidelines.

This does not - in any way - mean that policy has changed at all.
It hasn't.

All it means is that we have more trusted people helping keep the Forums free from junk.
They are under strict instructions to simply notify us if anything could be considered 'borderline'.

It also means we are covered more than before in different time zones.

There is no need to reveal their identities but we sincerely thank them for their support.

Thank you.
