This photo is awesome- another great one from Muika-san. This could adorn the front page of a tourism brochure. It shows big mountains, fresh powder, high speed quad & correctly attired ski school staff.

Ta stemik. I like that one too. I took about 20 shots of this hoping to get the best 'people' on the lift and I thought that this one with the ski school staff was the best. I regret now not taking more like that, and wish I'd have taken one with the cable above the top of the mountain rather than how it is now. Details details.

My biggest grandpa with Happo is there aren't many trees up there so there's not much 'foreground' things going on. ( Just kidding, etc. But I do like my foreground. wink )
Those lovely mountains make up for it though.

I'm not really, honest. No messing around with dials here - I don't even understand most of what my camera is capable of, it's just point and press the shutter for the most part. (But I am determined to study and learn more of all that this spring/summer).

Just pulling your leg muikabochi. It goes to show that a big part of taking cracking photos is having the eye for a good picture.

and a good camera makes a lot of difference. The delay in shutter release from a compact can often miss the very vital moment.

Well yes of course. But some people put too much emphasis (and use it as an excuse) on all the faffing about with settings.

I was just noting that muikabochi here, good camera and all, takes consistently superb photos and says he's basically an auto setting guy. Obviously he has a real talent for spotting and composing great images.

Obviously shutter speed is important for action shots, but doesn't really make much difference for scenery (does it?)

Why thank you friend

My lack of understanding of my cameras functionality means there are lots of situations where I am quite (or very) hopeless - things like night-time, fast-moving stuff, moving water, etc. They are the kind of things that I intend to study up on this summer - I'm hoping it's not too difficult! I just like taking pics for fun, that's all.
