So... who's next up in Niseko then to keep this going?

I will be there Sat afternoon, laptop is packed and as of Sunday when the last member of the crew arrives, who just happens to be a bit of a photographer in his working life(forensic photographer) so i will hopefully be able to upload some photos of the next 10 days or so.

Taking measurements from Niseko Now, as of 30 January 2010 Hirafu is up to 10m of snowfall at village level so far this season.

Remember all the hoo ha about Whistler getting 5m in November? Well you won't hear too much about Niseko getting over 5m in a month because quite frankly it happens most winters. The January snowfall is 5.6m with one day to go wink

Even Kutchan has had over 5m in one month before, at only 173m above sea level. Yep this place rocks!

Actually in Jan 1969 Kutchan recorded 601cm. Beat that Whistler! razz

Would have been crazy amounts of snow up on the mountain omg

Been a while but have been struggling with a lack of sunshine..vitamin d or something. Yesterday we finally had amazing bluebird conditions and i was stuck inside working ...
O well made it out on a back country mission today and persevered in the grey bird conditions...life is tough.

DEEEEEECENT
Heading down south to Nagano this week to check out the steeps

Still snowing in Niseko this morning, started about 3pm yesterday and only light stuff. I cleared the snow off the handrail on the way home last night about 11pm and this looking at the same spot this morning at 6.30.I think we would have got about another 10-15cm in total over night.

Awh thanks very much smile
I was just kidding i use a Nikon D700.
Went out this morning for a few runs ...not bad still super cold but not much had fallen but still decent.
Did one run through Roys and then 1 in Miharashi.

The sun popped out a few times but we didn't get any luck with the timing.

Good to get back on the resort after not riding up there for a while.

Went to Rusutsu for the first time to day and I think i have found the place for next years trip. The place is amazing with so many fresh lines right up until we caught the last lift home. fantastic.

we had arranged for our lodge manager to take the four of us over there today but unfortunately while showing another group around there yesterday his board caught a tree while going thru some deep powder and he broke his leading leg in two places.

His partner was kinda enough to arrange one of the local niesko boys to take us over there and show us around.

Local knowledge is awesome, he took us to some amazing places and I think that was one of the best days I have ever had in Japan, not one bad run and so much untracked snow. runs that would be tracked out but AM over Niseko just sit theres awaiting your arrival late into the afternoon.

Ski Patrol were so relaxed and seemed to have no problems with us ducking out of bounds, lifties did a great job, great food.

Wow what a day.
