Didn't Naeba used to stay open much longer than early April?

Yes, Naeba did used to open into May.

Look here, on the Now reports:

Sunday 6th May 2007, 10:37AM
Last day of the season for Naeba today, and unfortunately it is raining early on. It is also the last day of the season for the Tashiro area of the Kagura resort.

Sunday 8th May 2005, 6:39PM
Last day of Naeba season

Thanks for that muika, I thought I remembered as much.
Why the month cut? Just not enough people?

Naeba does seem to have been steadily cutting back on services year on year which is a shame.

Just less people or other reasons for that?
I suppose it's a vicious downward spiral - less open, less people, less open, less people, etc
I make up for it with cunning and guile.

they should bulldoze that giant hotel.....I doubt its ever near capacity. Perhaps if they had a smaller, less expensive to run hotel, they would turn a better profit

Haha lets do that! wink

I very much doubt it too Tubby. They probably even wish they could just rebuild something smaller.

As for the resort it really does feel like they cut back a bit each successive year. Sad really.

Not totally sure if they have taken lifts out. I know they don't run a few.

They have definitely taken the lifts out from the old Mikuni resort that was a few km behind - or to the side of - Naeba. So that one will never come back.

No, I didn't.
Must be 10+ years ago since that was open.
I think it was just too expensive to keep that road clear as it was pretty small.

Yes I think so, but it's not a 'park' now just extra slopes if I'm right.
Closed end of March I think.
