There wasn't enough snow so I skied from the hut in the saddle. Even then I had to hike 50 metres to the snow. I skied the western facing super couloir all the way to the road for 1500 metres vertical ending up in ShinHotaka near the ropeway. A really good 1 way dealy.
I hear you on the grunt of a hike. I did it in ski mountaineering boots. I kept everything light though so my overnight bag with skis attached wasn't more than 10kg I think.
Let me know when you go. If it's not next weekend I might be in that area. Next weekend the Norikura Skyline opens up so I'm going skiing there.

Ill see about that toque, got other plans such as looking sround Noz and such in the works that are more important than baggin a peak. got plenty of time to sort out whether I feel up to that type of climb. would rather be roped up cause you are stronger than me and climb better.
Montoya make that a 2 day trip cause that 10 kms will take alot out of you for no reason.

Going to Yari it's 22km one way
Montoya you should hike up from the other side. Just for something a little different

yeah I was thinking about Yoko, which is around 10k I think. We will probably take it slow, planning to stay overnight at Yarisawa and hit Yari the next morning.

All the tents with Sandy and Fattwins building up our fortress. My dream line is in the background on the left
A closeup of my dream line. It took lots of arguing to make the other 2 to see the potential of this line. Just have to ski it now to prove it. Next year. The day after the big rain the line was much smaller.
Fattwin and Sandy skinning up for the first run.
Our first line. Fattwins ripping it as usual.
Sandy and Fattwins came in on lookers right. I skied off the summit lookers left.

Our second line on day 2 coming off the summit of Tateyama. A really fun chute with good snow.
Day 3 had us skiing the Bikini. Fattwins has a different name for it though and he skied right between them.
Skinning up for run number 2 on day 3.
2 hours after this the trip ending rain hit
The run was amazing though. High speed and wide open on a steep face.
