I am off to Hakuba on Friday for one JET ski trip and then I am joining another one in Gorin Kogen for Saturday and Sunday. I hope there is still powder out there!
Lets rip it up!

taking a day off either side of that three day weekend to make a nice wee five day weekend... going to hachimantai, sleeping in my van with captain stag, skiing skiing skiing every day!
after japan and whistler... coming home to nz sure is strange...

However, I'm happy to know most ski resorts are going to be packed with people this weekend! The local people in ski town must be very happy.

Not sure yet - am staying at a mates in Ena (near Nakatsugawa) so will hopefully do a couple of day trips from there. Any recommendations?

Well you are just south of Ontake there. I have heard these hills are pretty shitty.
If you can stand the drive head north to Kamioka and ski Nagareha. One of my favorites in Japan.
