I find exercise before work helps a lot, a 30 min brisk walk or preferably a surf. Bog of crisps is right too. Sometimes just hitting it results in you realising it isnt that bad and Rach's idea is right too.

assuming you do only buy the one week pass, 1 week between Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima doesnt leave you much time in those places. Round trip tixs between Tokyo and Kyoto are roughly 22,000 yen and roughly the same between Kyoto/Osaka and Hiroshima.

nomi hodai kicks ass. A local izekaya has nomi hodai for 1000 yen every Tuesday, it opens at 5pm and closes at 3am and you can sit there from open to close drinking all for 1000yen!! Quality!! Not good if you work on Wednesday though!!
