hi guys,
I'm going to japan for a conference next week, and will stay 2 more weeks. It'll be my first time in japan, and I'd best like to go backcountry-skiing in those 2 weeks.
Is backcountry-skiing popular in japan ?? Are there usually any tracks ? Or maps with tracks drawn on them ? Which areas are good ? Hokkaido ? and is it possible to get to the trailheads by public transport, or hitchhiking ? may one climb & ski mt. fuji ?
I would be happy if you could send me a few suggestion on where to go (and maybe stay for a week or so....low budget). Also if somebody wnats to come along, or if I can join someone of you for a skitour - let me know.
thanks ! tony
PS: do you use the same avalanche beacons: 457 kHz ?
