The NPO Japan Avalanche Network (JAN) has released the dates for "Avalanche Night," a free, two-hour slide presentation and review of last season.

The guy in charge said they'll be spending a lot of time on the Tateyama slide.

Being a non-profit Japanese entity, the lecture, all questions, etc. it is all in Japanese.

Tokyo 11.20
Osaka 11.29
Nagano 12.20
among other dates and places

Just came back from Avalanche night.
It was very interesting to learn about avalanche and also very scary, they showed us really harsh reality...
But after this lecture, finally I could understand how much risk backcountry skiers are taking.

Thank you so much for giving me a chance to go this event, dizzy.

was very educational.
hiking up, riding, taking a photo, having a cup of tea,
there's always a risk of avalanche in a mountain.
surprised to c tatsu in a class,
good thing that we are all trying to learn.

Yeah, it was really good. They had good information regarding 4 of the biggest avies in japan last season. Very educational. Didnt know resorts have cameras set at specific avie zones either!! Makes sense but still never knew that. There was a huuuuuuuge slide between 47 and Happo that had snow flying everywhere - scary but cool. Interesting to hear comments/investigative stuff after the fact...glad I went too \:\)
