I wonder what % of the "first resort in Japan" response would be a Hokkaido resort for people here in HK. Must be very high. Would be interesting to see how it changes as well..

I think that many Japanese seem to go Shiga kogen for first time! Maybe it is most visited resort for large school group.

Maiko in this area. This was my first season and I really did enjoy it even if I only went a few times.

The first place I went was in Fukushima called Inawashiro. Perhaps a strange choice, but I have a friend who lived nearby and thats why. Nice place actually.

I don't remember which one, as I was only 6 yrs old and my parents dragged me to go. My first day ended quite short as we've gone home after a series of events like this: getting ready, my dad helped me walk side ways up on flat area, he pushed me and I "skied" for 15 ft., fell down, and twisted my ankle. I still have this weird tendon/bone thing sticking out on my right inner ankle. It looks like I have two inner ankle bones.

My first resort was Suginohara in Myoko.
