There are a lot of new smilies in the forums now and you can use them in the Chat Box as well as in posts. In posts if you just click on the smily icon it will show you a box from which you can click on a smiley.

Each smiley also has a code, as below. Take away the > and the < as well as any ; and you will be left with a smiley!
