I worked at the bhp too, and i hated it. it stank....

every tech day i had off to go surfing and used to turn around and go home about once a fortnight to go surfing.
they let me go when i finished my time.
i did not want to stay.

plus i did nothing. but hang around sleeping in the grease humpy underneath the blast furnace.. zzzzzzz

Best thing that ever happened to Newie was the closure of the steelworks, otherwise they'd be a rival for Beijing's pollution Gold medal. It took a while for the city to realise that they could survive without the Benevolent Home for Pommies, but it is now a decent place to visit - far better than Sidonee (I can stay there fpr a weekend, 1 day in Syd is 23 hours too much!)
