Theres a place near where I live that cooks up some amazingly delicious and addictive fried potatoes/chips. Best I've had in Japan by a mile. They give you a lot as well. Not good for a diet.

Last Saturday I surfed from 10:30 to 9:30 but took a few minutes out to make a fire and grill up some bananas. Delicious! The darker the better..it get's like pudding, I spoon it out and eat it. Anybody else do this? Highly reccomended.

You probably can't get it outside the UK, but this beer is killer. Badger Golden Champion. Main taste is elderflower. Its a British classic!

My best friend's mum used to make elderflower wine when we were kids. Not sure why it was called wine. I don't think it was alcoholic. Nice though.

Mr Wriggles, I was drinking Tangle Foot and your bottle of Golden from the Badger Brewery in my last months of UK life. I like it colder and frothier than the locals, but it is very nice beer either way.

When I moved out of my house bound for Germany I had some left over beer in the fridge so I offered it to the removal guys. They took the Fosters Lager and left the Badger.

(The Fosters was left behind by someone else. I didn't buy it, in fact I can't drink any of those lagers factory style beers popular in the UK at the moment. It took up space in the fridge for a year)

Gyoza are good. A good bowl of misoramen and gyoza - hard to beat.

Anything Mexican I have had has been really good too.

Those removal guys were a rare breed. Two of them kept getting into arguments with each other, which wasn't a problem as each dispute ended as quickly as it started since neither of them were intelligent enough to form a sentence. All they could say was the F word and "innit".

Actually on topic, that was a thing that made me smile: Getting offered a new job in a new country on Monday, telling my boss I was quitting on Wednesday and being told by him that I could stay in the office and serve out my 3 months paid notice, or, I could leave for good on Friday, unpaid. So rather than fly out Friday arvo for my usual weekend trip to the mountains, I flew out and didn't come back for 2 months. And even when I did it was only for a day to meet the removal guys. At the end of that hectic day of packing I tossed the keys on the floor of my empty rental apartment, closed the door behind me and went to the airport again for another month in the great European outdoors.

Telling your boss that you quit and then leaving the country 2 days later for good is an awesome feeling. To turn your life on a dime like that... I loved it. I reckon that 3 months and the way it sprung out of nowhere in the space of a week made me smile more than anything else has ever done.

over the weekend had 2 okonomiyakis in hiro. Damn theyre good!

whoa, and the sake from this past weekend was among the best Ive ever had since coming here. Found 2 more high quality sakes: 宝亀 (houki) by Kirei and then 双鶴 soukaku by Kamotsuru. Both have a remarkable aftertaste and extremely smooth

Can agree with you there! I did it when I bailed off on my year stint to Indo! Actually I gave just a days notice, but we were on summer holidays anyway!
If you do the give notice thing, your imnd goes to shait and you just can't be F'ed. Better to do it quickly.
