He is. And being ever so sincere. (You know, hero stuff, lying and shit-eating grin, etc). By far the most interesting one, will be interesting to see how the reaction is.

I simply don't see the competition here:
McCain/Palin = too old, Palin is an uneducated hick from a back-water State. Most importantly, both represent the current administration! This last point alone should sound the death knell.
Obama - young, intelligent, from his background he has a social conscience. Somewhat inspirational AKA JFK/Carter. Looks more towards getting domestic thing right and not being the global policeman.
With the amount of non-whites in the US, and the fact that the Republicans have alienated many whites (e.g. Hurricane affected States, current loans crisis, etc), I see no contest.
Obama '09
On another note, what's this US concern about being 'socialist'? I.e. government rules to govern banks. The US would be wise (yeah sure!) to look at other western democracies and see how the support of their citizens actually stabilises a nation.
United States of America? More like the Incorporated States of America. The US is so F'ed up it's gonna take a miracle-worker to straighten out the mess.

According to McCain, Joe the plumber won the debate yesterday.
He really is quite a curiously strange little man isn't he.

He just seems not natural somehow. Something really creepy about him. I don't know a whole lot about Obama but he sure comes across the better of the two. Very calm and collected.

Yeah, having a social conscience is gay. And any US politician who would point towards any other Western democracy for answers (especially Europe!!!) would have to be totally gay. (I didn't know McCain was in Tron)

Mr McCain, hero and all, gives "cheesy" a bad name.

Yep.
Should be a really interesting election. A real test for the U.S.A.
I caught up with a British friend working for the UN in NYC last weekend. His take on it is that people don't admit their darker racist tendencies on polls but when they're behind that curtain at the voting booth racism will rule. Hope he's wrong.

That might be the case, but it didn't happen when the party was voting Clinton vs Obama did it?

Yeah, maybe, whatever. Headlines today suggest that Palin is McCain's biggest liability.

It's beyond funny isn't it. Amazing. But too many people laugh at the idea of Palin to make it viable.
