Well my little one is already in day care 5 days a week and already socialises really well and is very used to being away from Mum and me for the day, no crying when we drop her off. I'm hoping this will help with the lack of a sibling being around. Also think it's good for her to be growing up from a very young age with other Japanese kids. Hopefully it'll make it somewhat easier for her to fit in as there's not too many other full blooded round eyed kids around here thumbsup

Mostly lol

There are actually a few other full blooded round eyed kids around but I don't think many of their parents plan on staying in Japan forever. My wife is actually the only one I know of who actually stayed in Japan to have our child. All the others went back to their home countries for the birth before returning.

OMG!! Is she addicted to giving birth or something?
Wow I seriously can't even begin to imagine that.

Although it has been an amazing experience and I love her dearly I really, really do not want to have another one. Anyone else an only child? How was it for you?

My wife is an only child (me 2nd of 5). We have one child (8 a girl) and will not be having anymore. Any only child argumant is lost on my wife who disputes most of the usual things stated aboiut it. I have never thought it a problem either to have a 1 child family. We both have plenty of time for her and she does a lot of socialising with school friends relatives and just her 'friends' from around about from her varous hobbies.

She can be quite demanding on ONE on ONE time, as you would expect, kids like to be entertained whether that be by other kids or some other thing. But there are no real disadvantages that I can see that are of any significant effect, if any effect it is simply 'diferent' to other multi child families. She would like a sibling but it is just not going to happen horse

GN one is good, two is good, three is good or whatever. They all require different types of parenting but it is the child that dictates what is required, well most of the time violin

4 of us.

I would think 2 is a good number.

Having said that, I'm on 0 now.

Yep quite a few. There's also been a bit of a baby boom around here recently. It seems just about everyone we know has popped one out recently or is expecting to soon.
There's been talk for awhile now that the international school from Sapporo may set up a branch here. With so many kids around now I'd think this is a definite possibilty over the next few years.

actually thats another aspect that you don't really think about when considering the Niseko boom. It has not only re-invigorated the local ski economy but also the local population, some new, young blood.

It's been one of the only rural towns in Japan that has seen house prices go up and jobs increase. Not too bad a thing for the area. All the land taxes being paid to the local government from all the new properties must also be helping.

My cousin has 5 kids.
I look at them and thing --- wow! Rather you than me mate.
Apparently they 'planned' for at least 4 of the sprogs, but with him being made redundant in January things seem tough and getting tougher.
Nice kids actually all of them. friend
