A new interview with Mike Harris from Canyon has been put online.

http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/interviews-mike-harris.html

"I first started skiing at the age of 10, at Cardona ski area in Central Otago. I was hooked instantly, but because of the costs, distance, and rugby obligations it was hard to get in much time in each season. When I hit university the government had just initiated a student loan scheme program, that myself and hundreds of other students put to good use by quickly snapping up seasons passes for Treble Cone and new ski gear."

sweet interview! Wish more areas would create DBD areas - those trees at Cortina (and so many other resorts which could be open) are sick

Interesting character - I might have to have him take me up to the BC some time - I haven't done any BC yet.

Good read. I have met Mike on the mountain before when hiking, good bloke. It is great to have a good english-speaking guide in that neck of the woods. I am sure business is going to increase quickly as people are aware of the availability of such people.

The other day when I read that FT had dropped in GaraGaraZawa, the 3 kiwi guys came up to mind right away as I thought it may be a bit early in season to do it (obviously FT knows what he is doing and I am no Happo BC expert either to judge). I did not know they were Mike's mates. Must send a shock through the system. I think one of the legacies of this tragedy is that it has made a lot of people more aware of the dangers and more safety conscious.

He was our raft guide some years ago, he's become quite famous since eh. I also saw him at Kagura recently too.
